Queer Books Banned in Canada

The drawings depict some of the books that were, at some point, banned in Canada. To our knowledge, that banning of books is not occurring anymore, the last incidents being around 2010. The intro talks a bit about the history of banning queer books in Canada.
These drawings were produced as part of the installation “A Bookstore is not a Bar” by Eloisa Aquino and Jenny Lin, commissioned for the a group show ‘Absence is Presence: LGBTQI+ Affective Memories, Never Apart Centre, Montreal, 2019.
